Short course : Quantum Optics in Complex Media
“Quantum Optics in Complex Media”, given by Prof. Yaron Bromberg (The Hebrew University), from September 22 to October 12, 2026 at Sorbonne Université.
The course will introduce graduate students, phD students, researchers... to the basic concepts of quantum optics and their applications to light propagating through complex media. Topics will include photons and quantum interference, the generation of spatially entangled photon pairs, and the evolution of their correlations in scattering media. The course will also explore the control of quantum light and applications of spatially entangled photons to quantum information processing, including quantum key distribution, cluster states, and measurement-based quantum computation.
The program combines tutorials and research seminars. Basic familiarity with optics and quantum mechanics is assumed, but no prior background in quantum optics is required. Research seminars can also be attended independently, as each will begin with a brief introduction.

- Thursday, September 24 — Tutorial 2: Spontaneous parametric down-conversion (SPDC) and spatial entanglement — 10 am - 12pm
- Monday, September 28 — Tutorial 3: Scattering of entangled photon pairs, two-photon speckle, and the advanced-wave picture — 10 am - 12pm
- Thursday, October 1 — Seminar 1: Wavefront shaping of quantum light in random media — 10 am - 11am
- Monday, October 5 — Seminar 2: Coherent backscattering of spatially entangled photon pairs — 10 am - 11am
- Monday, October 12 — Tutorial 4 + Seminar 3: Quantum information processing with spatially entagled photons — 1-hour tutorial + 1-hour seminar - 10 am - 12pm
